Basketball Competition

On Thursday the 26th me and my basketball team went to a basketball competition at cowles stadium.

We played very well but our first game we were a bit nervous and we lost by one point then we won every other game and were in second but in the 2nd vs 3rd game marshland who we just played and won against beat us 3 – 8 so we ended up coming 3rd overall witch is still pretty good but we didn’t get to Canterburys like we hoped. I think we showed resilience because we kept going when it was hard.

Week 7 Blog

This term we have been doing inquiry Me and a group of my friends did Mr Redmond’s’ group witch was making things about celebration in sport things like posters, stickers and songs I had decided to make a song and a sheet of stickers and this week I finished everything up and then added them to a massive cardboard display then I made a all time timberwolves and added that as well so over all I think my display will come together quite nicely. 83

On Thursday we went to tech and since I’m in digitech we started with a blooket on the platform cospaces then me and Archie let Jamahni join us because he hasn’t been here for the last 2 weeks of tech with his help we finished the spongebob themed game we were making and then we played some other peoples games and beat most of them. 65

Also on Thursday after school me Waha, Max, Elijah, Tk, Rangi, Shae, Kruden, had basketball we versed New Brighton Catholic and we thought they were going to be very good but then at the end we were hitting threes on them and won 50 – 9 we were really happy but Redmond told us that they are doing the grading this week and were going to be versing people more on our level now. 73

It’s Friday today and sport has been cancelled but Redmond said that if it’s not raining then we can play some sport in the afternoon and if not then we get to do dodge ball and there is not literacy today so overall I think this day is going to be really amazing. 51

One of the RISE values I’ve achieved is success because I have achieved everything I have tried this week and I have come out really happy about what I’ve done this week and I want to do the same next week. 41

Week 2 Term 2 Reflection

This week was very eventful for me because I had Zones Cross Country I also had basketball training and Winter sport starts this week

I have made my way to Cross Country Zones every year but this year I was the last one to race and I think I did quite well because I got 12th and the last sub is 11th my favourite part wass at the start when my family was there cheering me on at the start line as the wood blocks clap together and we run of at the start I was in a big clump so I decided to try and get in front of that group because I didn’t want to be stuck with them the whole time and as the finish line nears you can hear everyone cheering and you sprint of trying to get the one spot ahead and then you finish and cloppse on the ground.

We also had basketball training this week My dad came and took the training we did basic layup lines then we did multiple different 4 on 4s and finally we finished the training with 2 on 2s overall I think that it went really well and the next game we play we will be way more prepared for the challenges.

This week we are starting winter sport I am in the rams capture the flag team with Joel, Archie, Jamanhi, Jake and Finn to me it seems like a really goood team I think we will do well this time we are playing Marshlands red first and then we are playing the Sounth Brighton Ninjas overall I think Wintersport will be a really good experience.

Oxford Maths

Oxford Maths

This year at school we started using the Oxford maths system. Today I’m going to cover the basics of what a lesson with the Oxford Maths system is like with the pros and the cons and the new material and what is in the books that we fill out.

The book has a lot of different topics in it. A few we’ve covered are Factors, Fractions, Percentages and Decimals. The first thing we did in the book was a basic unit on converting Fractions to Decimals to Fractions to Percentages and full circle after that we started learning about factors and how to find the HCF easily I found the structure of the book a bit strange because it had you jumping around the book the whole time.

We also did pretests and postests a lot but some of them were laid out very weirdly and the questions were confusing and sometimes people had to be guided by the teacher because it was hard to understand them most of the time but after a while and people got used to them they were actually easy to understand and I felt they are helping a lot about preparing me and my classmates for highschool.

Overall I think that the Oxford maths system is quite hard but after you get used to it it helps me understand my maths a lot and is a good system and is an upgrade over the last system has raised my confidence in maths a lot.

Timeline

We made a timeline today in literacy I styled mine after the best timeline we saw this morning so I used pictures and tried to make it clear.

It was the best timeline because it was very easy to read and had reference images.

Week 9 reflection

This week was really fun and my favourite thing was action stations. Me and Max got whistles for taking basketball with Mr Redmond  and they really helped when coaching because it was easy to make everyone listen to you.

This week I found swimming quite hard because I haven’t done it recently but eventually I got back into the rhythm and was swimming normally.

Next week I want to run a basketball match like it was a real match at cowles stadium and to work on my backstroke and breaststroke because I find it hard to keep straight when I do these strokes and I don’t think I do Breaststroke right.

Week 6 Reflection

This week I went swimming it was really fun I did 20 lengths of breaststroke and backstroke it was really fun because I played tag with Jake and Joel during free time.

I found the Backstroke really hard and When staying straight.

I found the Breaststroke quite easy.
